It is at the heart of a designated area of ‘Outstanding Natural Beauty’ close to Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and UNESCO’s World Heritage Jurassic Coast.

The cottage is close to the village green and backs onto open fields against the backdrop of the great hill of High Chaldon.

It is an excellent centre for walking, cycling and seaside holidays and is perfect for families, with lots to do in the area and stunning local beaches.

The village pub, The Sailor’s Return, is a two-minute walk from the cottage and is renowned for its good food and ambience.

Chaldon Herring was, in the early years of the last century, the centre of a literary and artistic colony which attracted local celebrities like Thomas Hardy and T.E. Lawrence (aka Lawrence of Arabia).

The village remains off-the-beaten-track, yet within short driving distances are the seaside resorts of Weymouth and Swanage, the county town of Dorchester and the historic market town of Wareham.
